MRC Prodigy Advance - What Type of Throttle Connector?

Hi Everyone,

I am currently still running DC but plan to get a Prodigy Advance in a few months. Right now I want to add a couple walkaround throttle jacks for my DC system, and if possible I’d like to wire them so I can use them with the PA throttles when they finally make it to my basement.

My MRC walkaround throttles use a six-wire RJ12 connector. If the PA throttles use an RJ45, for example, I’ll install RJ45 jacks in the layout now, and make a couple adapters for my DC throttles. That way when I get the Prodigy Advance, I can plug them right in to the existing jacks.

So, what type of connector do the Prodigy Advance Throttles use? Is it standard, or a proprietary connector?

Prodigy Advance uses an 8 conductor and makes separate kits with faceplate, plugs, and wire. Check with Bruce at Litchfield Station, or Mike at Max trains, or Tony’s Train.

If its just a standard RJ45, it doesn’t seem like getting the MRC faceplate kit would be necessary, although maybe desireable for some if they like the look. Home Depot sells some Leviton RJ45 jacks that are really easy to wire, and snap right in their standard sized faceplate. Thats the route I was hoping to take, but I’ll ask at Tony’s Trains - they’re the LHS, so to speak, here in this part of Vermont.
