I have had and been using my Prodigy Advance for a month plus and I love it! I am about ready to order the second handheld and the panel fascia plug plate and wiring kit to extend my range of operations and allow for two operators to not be in each other’s laps. I know it is a competitor’s but I am using Digitrax decoders in my STewart FT ABBA set, so, be sure to download the free Digitrax mobile decoder manual. The information about what you can do with your PA is fantastic! Besides those units I also have a pair of BLI E-7’s I am hooked on DCC and the PA is AFFORDABLE!

I have had my PA for about two months now. I, like you had the prodigy system originally and was happy with it. I find it as easy to use as the prodigy system with alot of extra bells and whistles. Litterally that is. Can operate many more of the BLI sounds compared to before. Those engine I have with ditch lights can now be set to flash better and this is neat.

It has performed flawlessly for me and I am very happy with my move to it. It does take a while to understand the CV thing since I didn’t have to with the old prodigy. Instead of turning the dial a bit to set the voltages, you have to enter numeric values for start, acc, and decel settings. Trial and error for each engine to get it right. But then, if you have them set from the old prodigy, dont mess with them. Guess I just had to play.

It is a big plus to set the address to the engine number, 4 digit addressing. No more list sitting around to remember which number goes to which engine.

You will like it I’m sure. I got a spell of buyers remorse at first since it seemed I spent more money to do the same thing. Once I started playing with and understanding the addittional capabilities I was happy again.

I sit here and read negative comments about the PA from time to time saying it cant do this or that and I scratch my head. I must have bought a very special PA system. Everything I have read regarding it’s alleged limitations are not true with mine. For awhile, I wound run off and try doing something it reportedly couldn’t do and mine does. Hmmm?

Lastly, I have decoders from several different mfg’s, they all work with the PA just like they did with the prodigy. No issues here.
