MRC Railpower 1370 VS Tech 4 200

Which one is a better bang for the buck? I was looking at both of them and could not decide. I am only just starting MR’ing. My LHS said the Railpower 1370 was great. Is the accutec stuff a big deal??

accutech isn’t a big deal. The 1370 has MORE POWER than a 200 and is cheaper as it only costs about $22. Go w/ the 1370.

Isn’t the accutech the thing that when more load is put on the transformer it instantly draws more power rather than reducing the others speed?? Or am I wrong?? Can you really notice it?? [?]

Yes, it adjusts voltage to keep your locos running the same speed as they did before they encountered a load (a hill). I can’t notice it. Maybe just a little but it isn’t worth the extra price. Whatever you do, DON’T buy the Tech4 260. I bought one and it doesn’t even run 2 HO engines(MRC says it’ll run 7). My cheapo train-set powerpack runs 2 engines just fine.
I’m going to need another power pack for my layout sometime and i’m going w/ the 1370.

Here’s a link for the 1370

and the 200

you be the judge.

Personnaly, dingoix, I think you are right. I am going to stick with the Railpower 1370. I actually had tstage tell me about this. I had it in my mind and then started questioning the Tech 4 200. Now all I need to do is to sell my Bachmann HO stuff and I’ll buy the 1370. Thankyou dingoix![tup][swg][tup]

No problem.
