MRC Sound Decoder (SOUNDER)

I asked in the DCC section and only got 2 reply’s so I thought I try the main page.

Anyone here use them and what do you think of them? Main thing I am worried about is reliability. I know has a whole MRC have the reputation of being, well being kind Not So Good.

I have had 3 MRC decoders, 2 in there Big Boy’s and one from 2001 in a MRC F7A that came out of the box DOA. Big Boy decoders, well I got a refund on both of them.

One of the reasons I am looking at the MRC Sounder is it seems to be very simple to hook up, I like simple.

Any thoughts?

I have one and have only 1 issue with it: The sound sucks. I could just be the speakers they use though. Other than that it’s worked fine for me.

It’s a shame soundtraxx no longer makes sound-only decoders. A friend has one and it sounds pretty good.

I can’t say what the diesel version is like but I have 2 steam ones and they are good for the money.

I installed one in a Protto 1000 RS2 and it sounds pretty good. I put the speaker in the cab.
