has anyone had experience with thus system? specifically the steam sound.
I cant tell if you are referring to the sound station or the sound decoder. I recently bought a syncro sound steam decoder. I thought it was a bargian for the price. Under 50 bucks these days. I have seen alot of bad comments on this decoder but mine does what it says it will do. All functions work, it accelerates smoothly and all. The only problem I have is that the steam whistle is soooo load it is distorted. Still expirimenting with different resistors to reduce the level of sound. It is not adjustable by CV’s other than low or high in volume.
I have steam and diesel synchro sound units, the steam is better. Neither is perfect, but both are better than no sound. There’s a discussion of the system’s plusses and minuses at:
