Has Montana Rail Link announced whether their new SD70ACs are replacing older motive power or is a supplement to them? If so, which types are they going to be retiring?
Some older EMDS- like SD45s may be retired
It is supposed to be the non-rebuilt power that is going to be retired first.
What about the F45’s?
All the -2, -2XR and Q-Tron power is very safe. The non -2 SD40 and SD45 units will be evaluated. Some will be sold or parted out and some will remain as a “core” fleet for leasing. The 4 F45’s are pretty secure at this time.
