MRR Friendly LED website

Just thought I would share a website I have used several times. They specilaize in LEDs. They have an entire page of MRR related LED applications for your layout.

Nice, kudos for the info.[8D]

Yea, that’s a nice web site, Terry. I’ve had that one bookmarked for a while now.

I was particularly interested in the new “inverted cone” LED. It has a 360 deg viewing range compared to the typical 10-15 deg of other LEDs. That makes a great headlight in a loco but not much good for illuminating a structure. With the new 360 deg LED I think that will change. I bought 50 ea of the 5mm white and amber. My thoughts are to alternate a white, amber, white, amber in my Cornerstone Machinery works bldg. I think just using the white would make it too white. It will be interesting to see what the effect is. Of course I will keep all you folks out there that are biting your nails and sitting on the edge of your seats informed of the results.[(-D]

great info thanks

Thanks a lot Terry!

I have purchased hundreds of LED’s from that site in the past.
Have been very pleased with their prices.
I bought 75 ‘dwarf’ lights (red/green) and modified them for my use. I rounded them off at the top and added pieces of soda straws as hoods. They look good and cost a total of about $0.70 each!
They have quite a few different bi-polar LED’s that I have also used in the yard as well as control panels in conjunction with Tortise switches.

You can save a lot of money gong this route.

Great job, Terry. I haven’t looked at the site much myself but have passed the link on to some people in another forum who were quite happy.

Charlie - I also use the two level PCB dual light indicator for my yard dwarf lights. I buy my indicators and LEDs by the hundreds and you are right for way less then a buck you can have several fairly decent looking dwarf signals. Compared to the 8-10 bucks for the store bought ones. I posted a thread several weeks ago on my process. I used 1/2 in square styrene sections painted concrete for bases. Great minds think alike.
