Last November my parents got me a subscribtion too MRR and I haven’t got an issue yet. I did get a card in the mail a month ago saying that my parents were giving me a gift of the mag. I was wondering if this was the norm or something is wrong. Mike

My mother-in-law got me a subscription to MR for Christmas in 2005 and I didn’t get my first issue till March or so. Now, I think she got it through a third party though. I don’t know if that is your situation or not.

It usually takes 3-4 months for a subscription to start. “Last November” was only two months ago.
My nephew’s grade school does a subscription drive every year in September, right after school starts. I always renew my MR subscription through that (he gets prizes for selling subscriptions). The orders are in by about the 3rd week in Sept. and the 1st issue I receive is always the following January.

Here’s an idea… Have you tried contacting MRR to see when you’ll get your first issue ? Odds are they’ll have an idea. Certainly a more efficient way of finding out than asking here.
My daughter got me a subscription as a Christmas present, and hadn’t seen anything yet. So I went directly to the Model Railroader website (http://www.trains.com/mrr/ ), and clicked “My Account”. I then had to re-login (since it’s a different address than the forum) and the next page showed a summary frame of my Kalmbach subscriptions, listing MODEL RAILROADER as the only one. I then clicked the “view details” link and saw exactly which issue is supposed to be the first I’ll receive (March 2007).
