MRVP Video Vault - Layout Tour: Allen McClelland’s HO Virginian & Ohio

It’s nice watching these vintage videos and looking back on the pioneers of this great hobby of where it all began to what it is today!

Great video. More V&O!!

Wonderful to see the old V&O again. Great modelling and excellent articles over the years. I hope you show Bruce Chubb’s layout too. Both very big in the day.

I’ve really enjoyed these flash backs from the vault. The V&O, along with AM, were two of my favorite railroads when I was a novice modeler. Thanks for trip back in time. BTW: I loved the “antique” commercial at the end. I’ll bet a lot of millennials are wondering “what’s a video cassette?”

This video stands to remind us of just how great the original V&O was.

I’m loving this Video Vault series. When they came out originally I was too young and poor to afford them. Now I can see them at a very reasonable price.

A great video about one of the great model railroads! The Vault series is really nice to have available. I don’t think I would have appreciated these as much when they first came out, now I really enjoy the material presented. These guys inspire me to do better!

I’m a big Allen McClelland and V&O fan and really enjoyed this older video which I did not purchase when it first came out… Even though the material is dated, the video is still quality stuff with the excellent photography Allen Keller is known for. Can’t wait to see other great layouts from the past in this series.

Greetings!
Extremely interesting and informative video. I had read much about this RR but this video showed me more than all the articles could tell. A fascinating look into the past.
Thanks!
Mark

This layout was one of my favorite versions of Allen McClelland’s V&O railroad. The mines were still open, the KC&B short line was still in tact and covered wagons still roamed the rails. When Allen and Tony merged the V&O and AM the layout was still a Great Model Railroad, but did loose some of it’s charm. It’s a shame the extension on this layout was never completed along with the new V&O, the Gauley subdivision. What ever happened to the V&O K&M and Gauley subdivisions? I know the homes that housed the layouts were sold, but were the layouts saved or by chance purchased by model railroaders?

I can’t get enough of the V &O. Truly one of the all time great layouts. What year was this video made? Both Allen M. and Allen K. look pretty young.
