According to this MSNBC article, rapid transit systems all over the country are being strained to the max due to rising gas prices causing more people to try the train. In addition, many agencies are finding that as more people use mass transit, fewer people buy gas, which translates into deminishing gas tax funding for mass transit. It seems like sort of a “be carefull what you wish for, you just might get it” proposition.
