Whats your opinion?
The only problem is that MicroSoft has a forum already. I used to go there all the time, back when I played MSTS, though got rid of the monster PC and upgraded my Mac. Was a fun game, I hooked up a decent stereo to the PC witha subwoofer, talk about a engine with sound [:p]
There is that.
I just don’t like the hastle of going back and forth to two totaly diferent forums.
I agree, as in my opinion, MSTS is one of various faces of modelrailroading…BTW, when I’m far from home it’s the only way to play with trains, as a laptop computer is far less heavy and takes far less room even than a desktop or briefcase modelrailroad…And gives far more opportunities (I’ve just purchased the Donner Pass add-on, with 2-8-0s, Cab forward and Black Widow F-units…Wow!)
Thats the same for me. When Im away from home and I need trains I turn to Train sim. Sometimes I use it to look for inspiration for my model railroad. As a mater of fact I just downloaded the Green Goat hybrid electric yard switcher (grengoat.zip) from http://www.train-sim.com/ to help me with my HO scale Green Goat that I will start next week.
There is a train simulation software forum on this website: http://www.trains.com/community/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=292
Dan beat me to what I was going to say, there already is one. It’s fairly good too, take a look.

A general simulator forum, which trains.com already has is a good idea. The problem with an MSTS forum is the brand specificness. What about TRS users?
Only if a Trainz one is started, too!
I would like a forum about all of the games since they’re pretty similar. I use Trainz04 and would love to share my experiances. Is there a forum for them?
I guess a MSTS ONLY forum isn’t going to work.
Why isn’t the existing forum that Dan pointed out going to work? Although train simulator games certainly are different from each other, that’s not all that much different that us discussing different scales, different brands, and different operating schemes on the General Discussion Forum.
The Train Simulation Software forum says it is for: Discussion about operation of Microsoft Train Simulator, Trainz and other software packages.
Seems to me all you need to do is put up a few posts spreading the word a bit (trafic seems a bit low right now over there) so that those interested will know enough to wander over there and post.
jmho, not being a train sim gamer

I’ve toyed with MSTS and did some marvelous crashes. It was the only thing that got me interested in the thing as I found it rather boring. Did I miss something or is it suppose to be boring?
Sorry! I found it boring

If you’re on the road bring a kit and enjoy!!
I know as some of my best work is done when I’m at sea.
I meant an MSTS only forum. The reply has been changed to reflect that now.
I don’t think the game is boring. (exept for the “EXPLORE ROUTE” default activities, now they are boring.)
Just do the full rout activity for Marias Pass and complete it. You notice the time when your done and the fack that you actualy got hooked for that long.
If it doesn’t wor then try something like TrainZ. It’s more like actual Model railroading.
