MSTS

Ok, I know, it has nothing to do with MR(there was a review), but I cracked one of the Train Sim. CDs and I’d like to get a replacment. But don’t worry, I might get it repaired if all else fails[soapbox][sigh][#wstupid][#oops].<-----This represents my expressions for the cracked cd.

[8D]<-----This represents when everything goes back to normal!

[%-)] <-----This represents me being confused. Are you looking for a source for a replacement disk or tips on how to fix a broken disk?

[banghead] My head hurts…

Amazon.com might have this game for sale.

When you do get a copy, make a duplicate on a back up CD and store the original. Some of my mid 1990’s games are on thier 4th and 5th cd’s with the original long since broken up and sent to landfill.

The good news is that the price of the MSTS probably is around 5 bucks. Very close to that of blank cd’s lol.

I bought a copy of MSTS a couple of years ago. I found it at Staples for $10.

You might contact Microsoft. They’re the ones that put in the stuff that makes you insert the disk to run the program every time. My guess is they’d send you another disk if you sent back the broken one. Of course, they’re just as likely to say they don’t support MSTS anymore.

Does anyone know if they check the serial numbers? Maybe you could just borrow someone else’s disk and copy it. That’s not going to work if they do a serial number check, though.

You might also try this fourum. That’s where all the MSTS guys hang out.[8D]

One suggestion for when you get a replacement disk, download the update from Microsoft’s site for MSTS. Once that update is installed, you don’t have to run it from the disk, which will save on having to handle the disk so much.

ummm, where can I get this update???
and when does TS2 come out?

Microsoft.com for everything Microsoft.

Meaning?!?!

Pay attention to the following.

Type Microsoft.com into your search bar.

On the Microsoft Site, enter MSTS into that site search bar.

http://www.microsoft.com/games/pc/trainsim.aspx

Seek out and click downloads tab on that page to the right.

You should get:

http://www.microsoft.com/games/pc/trainsim.aspx#downloads

Im glad to do all the work for you and present this download for you.

It may or may not solve your problem. You may be challenged for a Microsoft Validation Scan before being permitted (Or not) to download files from Microsoft.com

Or, you can close the MSTS as being a old game past it’s prime and wait for the shiney new version two coming down the line in our future. Or spend a few dollars at the McCain Gamestop or similar to replace the cracked game disk with another MSTS.

Im done with this thread.

Yeah, for my tastes, the $9.00 I spend at WalMart was a good price for this ancient product, but I have ceased to use it. I think I kept in on my hard drive for about one year, and then found that it was a virtual paper weight. The graphics are dated, the motion jerky, the steamers are not representative, yada yada.

I eagerly await the new version that should be released in the next 12 months if things go well.

You shouldn’t have broken you’re back over this, but I appreciate it. I’ve tried to find the update before, but I relize what I screwed up. BUt now I won’t get a replacment CD, but if all else fails, then I’ll hold a MSTS funeral(nah-I’ll just get TS2

NOOOOOOO! NOT 12 MONTHS ?@!#$%^$&^^&&&*(()!!!

Router Configs and Trunking Multipule WAN/LANs over a single cable is what broke me.

Game updates are EASY PEASY… he he he.

Yes, downloads are easy, because even a caveman could do it, except for those **** internet connections.

But then those weird Dash 9s will go, and I’ll finally get to run on a mainline with outgoing up, up, and away…[{(-_-)}]

its in the cheapie bins in various stores, check around, Walmart, or Target or other places selling games.

Don’t bother. You will be unimpressed.
