Yes, SEPTA is Southeastern.
When you say Southern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, do you mean Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (the Philadelphia area)?
SEPTA guy running the LIRR? What could possibly go wrong?

For some reason this does not sound like a logical move, along with the fact that the lack of a labor contract is still to be resolved. Or the MTA feels the new president can beat the union?
Where is the logic here? Idiots abound!
This sounds like a politically motivated hatchet job to replace an apparently experienced and well qualified which someone else…probably having better political ties in New York and someone who can swing a deal (cave in) with the union.
She brought some real change to the country’s worst commuter railroad. Sure, the fictional schedules prevail, but some of the worst abuses got toned down. Imagine an A/C failure on a train, reported repeatedly by the crew, not repaired. Let Helena know, it gets fixed. Period. An abusive conductor - report it, problem fixed (and yes, there are plenty of good crew members). She had little tolerance for stupid or dangerous. They could have at least found something else appropriate for her at MTA.
