Sunday morning (9:30 to 10:00 AM CT) Union Pacific had six (6) Metro-North M8 passenger cars sitting east of downtown Elmhurst, IL commuter station, awaiting freight and commuter train switching through Proviso yards. Did these originate from Union Pacific Oakland, CA overseas / terminal port (shipped from Japan)??
Arre you certain the first 38 came complete from Japan? My memoroy says they came as shells, with some electrical equipment and interiors added in Lincoln. It is possible I am mistaken, but that is what I remember.
Yes all 38 were off loaded in Baltimore as complete sets, Believe me I worked these cars for a while now. the reason the 38 cars were made in Japan is Lincoln was finishing up on subway cars and could not make delivery deadline.
