MTH 2008 Volume I Released - Once again I am SO HAPPY!!

MTH’s new 2008 Volume I catalog has been released on their website, and I can’t believe how many great new things are in it. There is a huge number of things that I like in it, including the Amtrak switcher in the RailKing lineup, all the new Premier BNSF freight cars, and, most of all, the GP60M locomotive has returned, and it’s even being offered in BNSF Heritage III - this is even more exciting than the Evolutions!! All of the other things are neat, too - as always, something new for everyone to enjoy.

Yea but try and get on, takes for ever.

The bad thing is there is yet another Montana Rail Link caboose for my wife to want to own. We bought an Atlas one several years ago and converted the trucks over from 2 to 3 rail…Sure looks good.

There are so many Locos and cars of Interest that I will have to be very critical so that I only order exactly what fits in the time and place of the model railroad, while not exactly duplicating other manufacturer’s products. There is only so much track and storage space available.

I was kinda hoping they would release a set of RAILKING version *NS #*4270 & 4271. Especially when I glanced at the front cover. Oh well, have to wait. The MARC RDC’s should be a big seller around my parts. (Actually got to ride in the cab of one from DC to Baltimore). Love the WESTERN MARYLAND decapod. Hate the $999.95 price tag. Begged for an E44 for years, now have to figure out how to justify running one over SAND PATCH…[V]

I have to order the Grand Trunk Western Flat Cars.

The PS-2-CD High-Sided Hoppers have a Soo Line paint scheme applied around 1970 on the Soo Line’s Thrall Car Covered Hoppers. The Thrall Car Hoppers had a continually evolving design that is highly unlikely to be seen in O Scale. The closest model is the Atlas RR Company’s TrainMan Line version of the later standardized Thrall Car 4750 3-Bay Covered Hopper. So I will order that MTH Premier SOO LINE Hopper, because closer approximations are hard to come by even in HO Scale.
