MTH 3.1 and the Little Joe MOP softkey

Am I the only one who misunderstood that the MOP softkey to manually control the pantographs on the Little Joe comes up after you

  1. install DCS 3.1on both the TIU and the handheld; and
  2. THEN ( delete it on the handheld if already there) re-add the Little Joe to the handheld??

I still haven’t found the new FBS and FBR softkeys; any ideas?

I would probably do as you suggested-delete the Little Joe and re-add it after 3.1. I added the GG1 after adding 3.1, so I did not get the chance to try it with 3.0 to see what the effect was.

The MOP keys are totally cool: R with an arrow up to raise rear pantograph, R with an arrow down to lower it, an “Auto” key to restore it to automatic operation, the F with an arrow up and F with an arrow down-no aux commands to remember.

As far as the FBS and FBR, I would be surprised if they are on the LIttle Joe’s menu in the handheld. I have not seen a Little Joe yet, but I understand that they do not have a smoke unit like the GG1. As these two command simulate Boiler steam and pressure release, I do not know what purpose they would serve on an engine without a smoke unit.

These features do appear in the GG1 menu.
