MTH downloads

I can’t get MTH downloader to work with Vista. I downloaded the dll they recomended, put it in system 32 folder and it still won’t work. Says active x component can’t communicate etc. Help!

John

Try to re-install again, you might be having a computer problem. Are you running Windows XP or a Mac system?

I have Windows XP and I couldn’t get the downloader to work either. Personally I think it is hit or miss as to wehter it will work with your computer. Even guys at CTT & OGR (the field experts)are having problems with the MTH downloads, so don’t feel bad!!

Thanks Lee, I am running Windows Vista which is probably part of the problem. I did download the Vista stuff from MTH but it doesn’t help either. I think it may be the cable from the computer to the TIU. I couldn’t find a serial cable with 9 pin plugs on both ends. The only thing I could find is a serial to usb. I have installed the software for that. As I stated as soon as I click on the TIU code button, it says Active X component can’t create dialog for object.

What to you think?

John

All that my computer would do is say accessing com port one thru three, never got the signal to the TIU!!

This is my personal opion on the MTH downloads; MTH should package it as an upgrade kit that you buy with all cables and DVD with drivers for your computer, sell the kit for $55.00 or more. Make it available for Windows XP or Windows 98 or MAC system and price it accordingly.

Currently there are tooo many problems with this set-up. I fell this would solve most of the problems that people are having.

I went to Ready To Roll in Miami FL, they are a major MTH dealer and the owner of MTH comes there at least once a year and, they don’t know what else to do at this time. [2c]My opion in all this is that MTH really launched a DUD with the upgrade to DCS!!!

Well, I’ve arrived where you are…opening comport 3, then 4 and so on. Will Legacy run MTH engines?

John

I GOT IT!! iGOT IT!!

Aparently the programming process is extremely sequential. I powered off the TIU, and started the dowload manager. While it was doing that searching thing, I powered on the TIU and it told me to power off. I did, then it told me to power back up and when I did that, the transfer began. Now I am working on getting the remote reprogramed. I’ll let you know.

John

John,

I got to that point as well!

Don’t forget to hold down the remote’s button for the whole process or it won’t take, you can use a clothespin if you like.

Lee F.

That’s where I am now Lee, can’t get the remote to program. I had to find a 4 connector phone cord (which wasn’t easy) but that didn’t help. It says sending command to com 3, then 4 etc. It also said that I would be prompted when to hold down the remote on button but I ain’t seen that either. There is a fine print sub that says if you press the remote “on” button and the remote comes on, then there’s something wrong with the cable or contacts. I’ve checked that and everything looks fine. What do you think?

This is for all: I just received yesterday an e-mail from MTH advising of an update to DCS 4.0, called 4.01. It apparently has a few new items as well as some fixes. Because I have not gone thru the painful process of installing it yet, I can’t advise as to whether 4.01 will make installation any easier. Perhaps someone here has tried it.

Bill

I got all the cables and jumpers from Radio Shack, but I too kept getting the comm port error message.

Also MTH sent me an email as well with the needed fix items or telling me to download 4.01 from their website. Wonder what is next??
