MTH DSC Trains on Lionel Fastrack

Can you run MTH DCS trains on Lionel Fastrack? Is there anything I need to do to get an MTH DCS train to run on Lionel Fastrack? I have an all Fastrack layout and recently got an MTH DCS train. When I put in on the Fastrack, it lights up and the horn sounds but that is it.

Try posting your question on the Classic Toy Trans Forum. A good number of our brethren there use Lionel and MTH products.

As I’m not sure you posted this on the Toy Train Forum, I’ll see if I can help you here. As far as any of the 3-rail O scale manufacturers locomotives go, they are all compatible with all the different brands of track. As you didn’t specify much in your post, let me ask you a few questions…

  1. Is the locomotive Proto1 or Proto 2 equipped? You said DCS but that is a command control system, not a locomotive system.

  2. Are you using a DCS command control system and if so, what terminals did you wire the track and transformer power to?

  3. What transformer are you using and what voltages are you trying to run the train at?
