All is good, the tech guy from MTH called and squared up. Jake
Was it under waranty?
I don’t know if it was or wasn’t, I’d say no, as I bought it from a store closing up it’s doors. Thing is, it’s brand new. I make bamboo fly rods for part of my living. If someone closes the thing in a door, I’ll make a new section, no questions asked, for as long as I’m alive and able. I made a guy a butt section because he left it on top of his truck and drove off without it. Point is, how you are dealt with has a huge impact on whether or not you’ll deal with someone again in my opinion. Maybe it was just the tech guy I had on the phone, but I’m pretty disappointed with things in general here, at least with the dealings I just had. I took the thing apart, splined the shaft with a tool I have for knurling rod seat caps, and pressed it back in place with epoxy on the shaft. Just not very helpful there to me at MTH. I still think they have great products, nothing like the sounds of this Shay, it’s quite a machine. I know anything can break, it’s just what happens once it’s broken. Jake
One more reason I dont buy from MTH. Crappy customer service.
Proto Sound 2 is pretty tough to be, so is DCS, and proto sound 3! Jake
Fred,
If you bought this loco from an Authorized dealer within the last year, MTH will fix it for free. You must however have a receipt for them to do the work.
If you have the receipt, call MTH tomorrow and try again. I have never had trouble with them doing waranty work.
