Another model railroader I talked with recently told me about MTH and their HO locomotive product line. I was curious to hear how others rate their products especially their SD70ACE engine.
I entered “Search Community” at the right sidebar, and typed “MTH SD70ACE”. The first very recent thread hit was this one, which may be of use to you. For others, please use the same handy function.

Be aware of the DCS DCC issue. It has bit some modelers. This has been discussed a lot.
Some have removed the DCS and installed DCC because of operational issues between DCS and DCC. More cost for a pricey loco.
One online DCC company in a different DCC forums says he has made good money converting DCS locos into a DCC loco. More cost than doing it yourself.
I do remember seeing a post about MTH making their locos DCC capable. Search this forum for DCS DCC.

I have one and i like it,i run DC and will like to take the sound out and also the DCS,can this be done?to run on DC only.
That’s a lot of money wasted to buy the DCS/DCC dound version and rip out the electronics. This might be worth it if it was the only way to get an SD70ACe but Athearn is also coming out with the same loco. Also, MTH is starting to offer DC only versions without all the electronics for a lower price. They supposedly will have an 8 pin plug so you cna add a DCC decoder later if you end up going that way.

There’s a pending release that’s DC with an NMRA socket. I don’t believe it has sound. I have 2 and love them, but only after converting the decoders. The Loco’s are very well put together and very good quality.
