Particularly because so many other firms have also offered high quality HO F7 models, it would be very useful to have explicit comparisons of the new MTH units with the Athearn Genesis and InterMountain F7’s, among others.

One particular question: I’ve found that the separatley applied brake details on the Blomberg trucks of a pair of older Athearn F7A units foul the steps cast onto the body when the locos try to negotiate number 4 switches in my freight yard. I ended up having to trim the part that extends from the brake cylinders. Would the MTH units have similar difficulties?

Does MTH ever have plans to come out with an F7 or any power for the Texas & Pacific?

Very impressive. Looking forward to MTH adding Canadian road names (i.e. Canadian National) to the F7 line-up. Best Regards…

I second Mr. Wagner’s suggestion and question.

The factory close-coupling option is welcome. Thanks for the comments about the owner’s manual and DCC consisting.

I agree with Stephen. It would be very useful if MRR would run a comparisons of locomotive models.

NORTHERN PACIFIC. Best RR Ever!

Finally, a manufacturer who captures the true color of Northern Pacific’s Pine Tree scheme! Some make the dark green too close to GN olive green, which is browner, or they use a color which is just a darker version of the light green band (too cool a green).
MTH also nicely captures the NP light green. Most manufacturers make it too light and too bright. The true color, very well achieved by MTH, is a medium pine green with a faint whiff of gray.
The true colors have been a source of debate and hair-pulling for decades, but analysis of a number of color photos (allowing for age, lighting, film type and the printing process) leads me to conclude that there is a “rightness” to MTH’s colors.
I don’t want to overlook the NP yellow, which on this model has the right cast (showing just a trace of mustard) and value (lightness vs. darkness).

It is nice to see that these are also being offered in a DC version. I do model the NP and these will be nice additions. I sure hate to have to pay for DCC and sound when I have no use for it.

Do you know if MTH plans to have this color scheme manufactured on passenger cars?
