I know that MTH is introducing Ho models and I was curious what everyone thought of this and what literature there is on them. Thanks
Have you ever seen a glacier move? Very slow. MTH is not exactly blitzing the HO market with product. They’ve got a PRR K4 and…well, as of now there is no “and”. If MTH is actually going to stay in the HO market they better find a way to cut down their product development time.
Waiting for the K4 was a big [zzz][zzz][zzz]

…and, if I could be forgiven for adding, frought with rancour and public bickering. In order to elbow its way in, or so it seemed, they threatened lawsuits over what they claimed was a deliberate usurpation of their software. Then, when they finally launched their one model, a(yawn) K4, they attempted to point out how their only serious competition, the Broadway Limited Imports’ version, was found wanting. If anything, it backfired seriously.
Hmmm …
… like the previous poster says - their entry into HO is likely to be slow. Mike Wolf’s team totally misjudged the HO market and had a bit of a PR disaster with all the legal stuff. Unfortunately his market research department also hadn’t done their homework and they also picked a prototype which has already been available as a good quality mass produced item for over a decade and recently produced with sound by their main rival.
My guess is that they stuck their toe in the water and they found it was a little warmer than the O scale market they are used to.
Do a search in this forum there was a good in depth review of their one product - the PRR K4 - earlier in the year. To be fair it looks a good model with some innovative features…
… I’m not holding my breath for their next offering however - it may be sometime coming.
