MTH Operating Gas Station

I have the MTH Operating Gas Station, The Esso version that had a 64 Mustang. The original car with the guide pin is gone. I thought incorrectly I could order a replacement carplate for another Ertl Mustang (identical to the original). MTH parts informs me they don’t have this part & it looks like they also have no more cars. They all should fit the track since even though the Gas station names changed the mechanics are the same. I need either a car with a pin or the pin assembly. Perhaps someone has created their own. This mechanism was part of the car wash which I own and the operating McDonalds , which I don’t own. It seems sad that by loosing a five dollar car with a 2 dollar pin the whole thing is rendered useless. Any suggestions welcome.

Have you tried contacting some of MTH’s authorized service centers? Even though MTH might not have any in stock possibly a repair shop would.

Almost forgot, [#welcome] to the forum.

Any one in particular you would recommend? I contacted my local train guy who is a master tinkerer & he once crafted his own to repair a customers.

Mizell’s in Denver or Brasseurs in Mi.

I made a socket assembly out of Evergreen strip styrene. The socket needs to be 1/16" longer than the pin in the gas station, and 3/33" wide. My homemade socket works well with both the gas station and the car wash.
