MTH programming

Got an Erir Triplex from MTH (early birthday). I am running 100% digitrax with a programming booster and JMRI software. Looks like MTH will not allow you to change anything. Anybody else got an MTH and if so HOW do you change the cv’s?

I believe you have to buy a DCS system.

Thank you, not in my lifetime. Have ONE MTH and the balance are NORMAL. I just liked the looks and my wife got it for my birthday.

Well I joined the MTH forum, see if they have any plans to allow access. They have a printout for changing the address BUT it is a default system written for the Zephyer. I am spoled by decoder pro. never learned how to program in OPS mode.

Because MTH decoders are built by QSI I would believe they could be programed although the MTH might loco may be different. I run MTH DCS and digitrax super chief. G scale and HO. If I can get my hands on a MTH ho scale I’ll get back with the results. Programming in OPS mode is the easiest one but until you learn how I would either use a small separate track or remove other locos while you figure out the command station. Other than the adress you can skip this step. By the way which dcc system are you using?

100% Digitrax (1) DCS 100 and (5) DB150. Jmri Decoder pro and a program booster on the program track.

I cured the address problem which was easy. JMRI is going to try and write a program to be able to set the couple of CV’s that you can touch.

  1. Forget changing any CV’s on an MTH other than what they tell you in the book.

  2. They have it so you program in ops (yes I learned how) and it gives (2) toots when it worked. I am trying to get some momentum in BUT I get (4) toots.

  3. MTH will not tell you why you get (4) toots

  4. Spoke to a person at MTH and they said just go DCS, I told him Thanks and hung up!

I have a couple MTH engines I run on my NCE system. I’ve never encoutered the 4 toots you described. To get the maximum momentum you need to input a value of 1 into CV’s 3 and 4. This is a carry over from MTH’s DCS system where momentum values are represented in scale miles per hour per second (smph/sec). As a result they are backwards of most DCC decoders. You definitly don’t need DCS to make this work.

Dave so the fact I am using like 15 or 20 MAY BE why I get 4 toots. So Set CV 3 and 4 to ONE correct?

I’m not sure why you are getting four toots. I’ve never encountered that on either my NCE system or when running the engine with DCS (I have both HO and O-gauge so I already had a DCS system when the K4 came out). I think the system max is 20 smph/sec. But, yes, set CV’s 3 and 4 to ONE and you the engine should have nice slow acceleration and decleration.
