MTH Question

Forgive the newbe here, please…

I’m having a hard time figuring out MTH’s scale. They say “O” for most of their stuff, but that confuses me because they say they offer a “G” scale as well.

Also, does their “O” stuff run on special tracks, or will it run on LGB or Aristo as well? In the pictures, there appears to be a third rail running down the middle of the tracks.

Any help would be great. I’m think I’m on the edge of understanding this scale thing…maybe…

You are talking about two totally different scales of trains…
OGauge runs on 3 rail and is about 1:48 scale. It isn’t made to run outdoors.
MTH also has 2 rail versions - the track width is 1.125 ".

MTH also makes Gauge 1 - Large Scale trains [G if you wil which technically isn’t a scale to most]. These are 1:32 scale and run on track that is 45 mm [1.77 inches wide]. These are considerably larger.

MTH Ogauge brands are Rugged Rails, RailKing, and Premiere.
MTH Large Scale trains are Gauge1.

And to give you an idea about the size difference between Large Scale and Ogauge…
