MTH Railking (Imperial)

Hi guys, Just wanted to know more about the MTH Railking Imperial locos. Are they truly scaled proportioned like the premier lines (steam locos)?

Don’t happen to have any but it is my understanding that they are scale, the same as the premier line. The only difference being the lack of the “add-on detail parts”.

The MTH Catalog states:

“RailKing models have less detail and are lower priced their Premier counterparts”.

“Unless noted, all RailKing engines will negotiate O-31 Curves.”

" — RailKing Scale engines are full O Scale size, other RailKing engines may have smaller proportions than the prototype ----"

RailKing Imperial are top-of-the-line RailKing engines, with features such as real coal loads and separately illuminated marker lamps.” (note: may or may not be scale)

I have one RK Imperial steam loco, the CP Royal Hudson. It has lots of nice detail but is NOT scale. Perhaps some of the diesels are. Read the features list carefully if scale is what you are looking for.

I have a couple of the RK Imperial engines, including the Big Boy. They are well worth the money, and are rich in detail, never been disappointing for me. THEN I got a couple of the Premier products and there is a definte differeance. But the cost was quite different as well ! Don’t hesitate you will be pleased.

I have the MTH SD70ace imperial diesel in the BNSF livery and it is a awesome engine, It has protosound 2 and fan driven smoke. IT looks and sounds awesome and the price was very good. IT is a little smaller than scale size but when i run it with my MTH ge es44 premier it looks just fine.

Hey, Just wanted to say i have the tuscun red k-4 pennsy and the big boy both mth imperial they are really nice locos lots of detail and worth the investment. But i collect o-gauge not scale. and these locos are not scale.
