I just purchased a MTH SD70ACE/SD70M-2 Loco, the box is its in is listing smoke as one of the DCC features, however newbee train guy (thats me) can not figuer out how to make this happen, looked in the manual, went to the web site, still no luck. Anybody on here have any knowledge on how to make this work.
No, It does NOT smoke. It was a feature they originally planned to add but was withheld in the end. So you cannot make it smoke and you will not find it in any manual.
Yesterday i pulled my Broadway Limited SD40-2 first run sound unit out and it started to smoke, few days ago NS had a turbo in town to blow and had to have the fire put out,so i had a smoking loco in the same week same town just like the big boys.
Almost true. They dropped the smoke unit from the SD70’s but they did fit it in the Alco PA’s. As much as I like O scale too, I am quite enamored of their HO PA’s. In O scale the B-units are non-powered dummy engines. The A’s alone have plenty of pulling power, but you don’t get sound or smoke from every unit. With the HO PA’s you do! A good line of smoke looks just right pouring out of the stacks of Alcos.
