Does anyone else have this issue? I just got a NS Sd70m-2 (HO) and as Im running it Im noticing that the locomotive is leaning to one side and wobbling like crazy, its almost as if the the trucks arent mounted to the frame properly?
Take it back if possible because if you try to rectify the problem and break it then it’s your fault.
You could try the following: Place on flat surface, like a piece of glass, and examine both ends again. Try gentle persuation to level the truck but if that doesn’t work then it’s probably the body off job to fix the problem. It’s not too difficult but read the instructions that came with the model on how to remove the body correctly. If it’s the same as the SD70ACe then it’ll probably be front rails, hand-rails, and wheel-sets.
Best of luck…
Colin.
It sounds like to me, that the truck bolster/gear tower covers are not seated into the locking position.
Personally, I’d just return it for exchange and let the vendor return it to MTH for repair.
If you attempt a repair yourseld, and something gets damaged, you’ll be more frustrated.
it’s an easy fix, but removing the shell requires a few steps and if not followed, you can do some damage.

After looking at a bunch of MTH Sd70s they all seem to have this issue. It looks like something is different in the truck design from what the exploded parts diagram shows. Probably a design flaw as I expected. I definitely wont be buying any more of these.
