Has anyone put an MTH smoke unit into a non-Proto steam locomitve? If you have please post the possibility of it.

If you’re talking about the smoke unit from a PS-1 locomotive, those are running right off the track power, so there’s no reason they won’t work electrically. Note that the fan runs from the board, there’s an on-board regulator for it.
