Much Happier with the New Painting

I had asked for advice on painting and once again everyone came through. It has been a little slow getting the new paint on my building (daughter got married, son had twins, and work has me traveling coast to coast) but I have finally made some progress. Here are the before and after pictures.

Also, I am now a fan of microbrushes. They were perfect for doing the windows.

Yes, much better.

And when you start painting the faces on your little plastic people, just grab a single cat hair from your sweater and use that as your paint brush.

Lion,

You use the cat hairs from the sweater for the figures ‘‘eyebrows’’ you silly Lion.

Imho, that is a big improvement and looks realistic. Although there are prototype structures of similar architcture/design that may have been painted in similar colors, they’re generally the exception rather than the rule.

BTW: Since the subject of painting figures was brought up, don’t forget about the “Brifayle technique” as an option. I’ve tried it before and it works! I’m looking forward to applying it to the rest of my unpainted figures, including the stock unpainted engineers and firemen in my older run LL Proto 2000 diesel locomotives. Check out this link:

Cool factor with this technique is that it’s ok to miss spots as the “shadow” effect helps with the figures realistic appearance.
