Such a shame, environmental problems affecting a railroad. Looks like mother nature is working hard this season. Hope crews clean it up or uh oh

Somehow the freight isn’t affected. Didn’t Amtrak government workers solve this problem last week?
The solution is very simple. Stop running Amtrak trains on that track. Somebody higher up is sending a message. Think way back of the Packers and the Ice Bowl. Somebody higher up was sending message at that time as well. This time the message is: Amtrak is doomed to failure, no matter what happens.
Why doesn’t BNSF just do something to prevent these damn mudslides, like put concrete or some kind of barrier by the tracks? Or reinforce the mountainsides.
Given that I’m in my late 50s it is my distict impression that this particular stretch of track from below and above Seattle has never before been so impacted by slides and passenger trains annulments. I appreciate that more recent FRA safety codes demand longer closures to passenger service, but even so, there’s a truly remarkable number of these inconvenient and – from the average non-railfan passengers’ view – a serious reason to say “forget the train; I’ll drive instead.” Indeed, the Amtrak cascades are still boarding record patron counts but still, something might be done better to keep these tracks open to full traffic. Even BNSF Railway management might say as much.
Now don’t get too excited, Goosie! We all; know of your intense hatred for Amtrak. Hopefully you will suffer heart failure.
