Are there any other MRs that model in more than one scale? I model logging in On30 and Fn3 (indoors) and a small mining/ industrial layout in Gn15 (Large Scale on HO standard gauge track) to complement the Fn3 layout. I find modeling in more than one scale motivates me and let’s me get the most enjoyment out of the hobby.
No, not yet, but I’ve sure thought about it. I have all of my HO stuff that I started collecting when I was a kid. I still have plans for a layout in that. I also have a little bit of N scale stuff that my father-in-law gave to my son. I’ve considered building a 2x4 layout for that, just for the learning experience if nothing else. But I’ll tell ya, IF I had it to do all over again, I would do S scale. It is sandwiched between HO and O leaning more toward the HO size, and the units of measurement are very convenient in tha USA. 3/16" = 1’0" and 1/64"=1". Really, even though I model HO, 3.5mm=1’0"? That isn’t convenient even for the Europeans. S is small enough to do a moderate sized layout without filling a barn, but large enough to do detailing without eye strain. N costs the same as HO and S is more expensive. Dunno! My current plan is to just use what I currently have and be content. Yeah, right!
Well, I still have all my HO scale and O scale stuff from when they were my primary scale. I also have some O gauge 3 rail stuff as well as On30 engines and cars and my son’s N scale. Somewhere along the way, someone gave me a Large Scale Lionel set. So while I’m building an S scale layout, I have a test track layout where I run the other stuff. Eventually, I’ll do something in 2 or 3 of these.
Enjoy

My HO layout will have an HOn30 mine scene. That’s where the critter in my avatar will reside. No dual gauge track unfortunately.
The HO layout will be DCC but the little guy(s) will be DC because there is only one loop of track with a passing siding and a couple of sidings where the engine house sits.

I do Z,N,HO, O (On30) and 1:32 .N is my favorite but the other scales are enjoyed too.
