Multi track grade crossings?

I’m familiar with the number signs on crossbuck posts for the number of tracks roads go over… but…

1. Do they number all tracks?

2. Are industrial tracks/sidings included - or even protected by the crossbucks?

3. What happens when different Railroads cross the same street pretty much side-by-side? Does each RR protect its own track… if not which RR does the work?

Depends on how far apart they are, in most cases they are separated enough that each railroad has its own signage and warning devices.
