Murphy's Law Paid Me a Visit

I have read posts in past from various posters about how Murphy’s Law has visited and I thought that I was more careful. Well today just isn’t my day. It started last night with a bad storm, then all of the storm debris (only broken trees), then to top it off, I sliced my left thumb in three places. The first two was from splinters from broken tree limbs, and the third was from my hobby knife when I was assembling my Walthers ADM Grain Elevator kit.

Has Mr. Murphy paid you visit lately?[swg]

Are you kidding? He lives in my house! He just leaves occasionally to pay a visit to you folks.

I hate Murphy, I think he should die.

He over here right now. [:D] Would believe just as I typed that statement the sound went out on my Y6 b?[:O] Turned off the power and restarted and sound is back.

Anyway, I have started running the train the other direction (Y6 b) and all of a sudden some of the freight cars started derailing. Now, I do know theses things happen, and why. But, still seems odd in a way that a lash up that has tracked great for 2 months now has problems.

Here’s one for you. I was trying to paint a Micro-Trains HOn3 reefer kit. When I went to prep the airbrush for the second coat, I used the exact same jar of yellow, mixed in the exact same way and quantities, and hadn’t used the airbrush for anything else between the two. And yet somehow the paint managed to come out orange.

So I decided to order one of the pre-painted reefers, and turn the botched kit into a shed + scratchbuilt gondola. And managed to slice a chunk out of the side of my thumb while cutting balsa wood.

Funny you mentioned the ADM grain elevator and your finger. I just finished building a large grain elevator complex using 7 of those ADM kits, and I must admit to having several cuts from building the elevator, plus some unpreacherly language getting the end joints smooth on the silos. I have several large grain complexes on my Santa Fe in Oklahoma, but this was the first complex to bite me back.

Plus, I think Walthers owes me a rebate on the number of their ADM elevators plus the later elevator/headhouse/silos that I have sacrificed to building the 19 grain complexes (including parts from other sources) that now grace the ATSF.

Mr. Murphy? Visit MY layout? … Don’t ask! … What ever you do, don’t ask me…

Murphy has to reside in my basement where the junk has expanded to occupy the space a available.

Mr. Murphy is like Santa Claus.

There may only be one REAL Mr. Murphy, but he has LOTS of HELPER Mr Murphy’s who show up everywhere! At the same time! With the same goal! TO wreak Havoc!

I couldn’t resist…

[(-D][(-D] [(-D] Ha! you funny man Murphy does not only live here he’s moved in all his flipping relatives too! One of which is this pesky groundhog I’ve been after fro three days now. Little SOB flipped over a have a heart trap yesterday. Today we bring out the Claymore mines Gopher must die!!!

Oh yeah and my airbrush decided to clog all on it’s own yesterday during the last coat of paint on a friends locomotive, spit out a nice big logy just as I was finishing up. It’s back in the Alcohol bath will try again tomorrow.

Oh yes, old Mr Murphy. I know him well. He practically rules every aspect of my life. Because of him most of the Christmas and birthday cards I get every year come from the staff at the local hospital. My doctors send me cards every year as well since they know it’s only a matter of time before I grace their presence again. Most times it’s just little things that I can handle myself like a minor cut from an X-acto knife but other times it’s something worse like a deep wound caused when a Dremel tool got away or the time that I was cutting a piece of plastic sheet and the knife slipped and went all the way through my left hand. Yes, I owe Mr Murphy a lot and if I ever get my hands on the dirty lout, well, they don’t allow the description of that kind of thing here.

Remember, Murphy was an optimist.

The best way to appease Mr Murphy is to respect him/her [:D]. If you have a beer make sure you crack one open for him too even if he doesn’t drink it. Just make sure it’s away from the layout or he just might oops and spill it. [:-^]

Sorry, unfortunatly Murphy, CAN’T DIE. We might try a concrete overcoat then dump him in the East River, or give him the Jimmy Hoffa treatment.
