Murphy's Post

Well, I haven’t been spanked in a while, so I’ll stir the pot some. l agree with Murphy, it was wrong to delete his thread. If it had degenerated into name-calling then lock it, but some of the early comments needed to be said. Deleting the thread was a cowardly way to avoid deleting individual posts which were offensive and which should have been deleted. Just about every recent thread has been ruined by the same two or three bad actors, who don’t know much but have the monumental arrogance to shout down the people who have ACTUAL KNOWLEDGE (God forbid!). If we lose the rest of the real rails, the forum will be worthless. Speaking of the bad actors, what kind hold do they have on the moderators? Seems like they can do anything and suffer no consequences, while others get spanked for being less than polite. And threatening Ed if he responded to one of those knuckleheads? Not right.

What are you talking about?

Murphy seems to forget that threads calling moderator actions into question (aka challenges to authority) always get the axe. The thought police do not like to leave “challenge” threads up where future innocents coming into the party in the future, might stumble upon them.

From my observation, historically the procedure for such threads that do not (directly) violate the TOS, is that the threads are allowed to live a few days, my guess is that there is hope everyone will post their grievance and get their angst out of their system, get it over with,…and then the broom and scooper trooper comes along and tidy’s everything up for posterity.

Frankly I’ve seen it happen this way so often, I’m surprised that more of you don’t recognize the same ol same ol when you see it?

Perhaps the so-called “challenge threads” belong in their own forum category.

They surely do not belong here.

There should be nothing wrong with challenging a Mod if the need arises. And there are times, the need has arisen.

There is the rub…we are stuck between a wall and a hard place. If someone from upstairs says something about a certain thread it will be pulled.

I have to be careful about whose side I am on, somewhat too…this is not easy…let me tell you!![:#]

Who is upstairs that makes those determinations?

If anything was to drive me away from here, it’s whining rather than a possibly overeager moderator or two with the best of intentions.

I would also like to know the answer to that. I would like to say a few things myself.[:^)]

Weren’t you a moderator at one time? You should know already.

It was an honest question. I do believe your snarky answer was uncalled for. Why, I’ve got half a mind to report you to the moderator. [:-,]

I don’t.

Geez, give it up guys. You know you are fighting City Hall.

And you know that this thread will eventually get locked too.

If the topic of the original deleted thread was not inoffensive or inappropriate, then just start a new thread on the same topic instead of wasting your time repeatedly posting threads about the deleted thread.

Rich

Can a moderator place himself in moderated timeout status???

I tried. It don’t work.

Much like on KVRAudio…moderators cannot be muted…and you can’t mute yourself…lol!

I’ma going to lock this here thread. It is nothing more than a complaint thread about a previously locked thread complaining about another complaint thread about a locked topic…[(-D]
