Keep thinking “out of the box” to get the job done. Going to railfans across the United States is the way to go.

In fact, don’t stop there ~ think INTERNATIONALLY!

There are railfans all around the world!

Failed to mention, great idea and keep up all the great work!!

About time lirr loco 39 received some National press. Growing up in RVC I have always wondered why here on Long Island we can’t accomplish what other museums have achieved in areas that aren’t as blessed with wealth as parts of long island. Maybe this press release will be the start of something. The only fear I see is getting the cooperation of the lirr to permit #39 to stretch her legs on their rails should she come under steam again. Ever optimistic and forever praying. Fan of #39.

Wrong, the 39 went to a museum at Stony Brook, Long island and around the seventies it was moved to Riverhead.
Back then I contributed twice with no results so forget it from me this time although at a dollar a piece iI will give up a buck.

Once upon a time, the restoration of 39 was a goal for the bicenntenial in 1976! Now, 36 years later, I am still hopeful but I am also old. Will 39 be wheelchair accessible?

Number 39 was not put on display at Riverhead in 1956. Its display site was in Stonybrook on the Carriage Museum property. It was subsequently moved to Riverhead many years later. Sister engine, #35, was also put on display in 1956 at Eisenhower Park.

grass-roots donations campaign : goodsearch.com, escrip.com, & isearchigive.com.

Why wait until 2012 to begin the fund-raising campaign? Start NOW.

Hey, if they could get this engine up and running, it would probably be the fastest, most reliable engine on Long Island (consider what that suggests for the current LIRR diesel and dual mode fleet)!
