I am wondering if there is a common interest of music between model railroaders and train fanatics. We all have at least one thing in common, let’s see if there is anything else. I’m for country.

i dunno what this exaclty has to do with trains… but whatever =P
musicly i like a lotta stuff, althought i cnat stand rap. my all time favorite is punk. i really like ska too… and lots of stuff thats just termed “rock”. i’m not a big fan of country music. theres a few songs that are ok… but the rest… nahh. i like a good deal of christan stuff and theres a lot of clasical and recently jazz that i like also… so yeah… for what its worth that my musical tastes in a nutshell
We’ll, my favorite kind of music is country. I also like, christian, gospel, and some rock. As Darryl Worley says “this looks like a good day to run”. I like to add “down by the tracks to watch a train go by”.
RDL, or Robert
When I need a pick me up it’s time for the 80’s hair bands…
you can’t beat go old rock and roll when you can only select one style. Like most complicated people I like other stypes depending on my mood and whats happening. You have some really good country, some folk music is excellent, I even listen to some bagpipe and Irsh ballards.
I mostly listen to what is termed, “Old Skool [school]”.
Old funk bands like Slave, Cameo, EWF, One Way, The Barkays, etc.
My favorite station mostly plays what is called locally “easy listening”. It is a mix of classic, soft rock, ballad, and sometimes a little country. It is designed to motivate people to work, keep them from freaking out during a commute, and not insult customers or family people.
some of my favorite bands are Green Day, Jimmy Eat World, O.A.R (Of A Revolution), Velvet Revolver, those are as of right now. my all time favorites are Led Zeppelin, Green Day, Hoobastank, Lynyrd Skynyrd.
i also like country a lot. like Jo***urner, Joe Nichols, Alan Jackson, George Strait, Alabama.
i guess i have some different tastes.
I voted heavy metal, but I’m not to picky about music, I like must rock, some country, some classical, some comedic music etc. Not to much for rap.

I listen to a LOT of music when I work on the railroad (and talk radio, too).
Since I good only choose one, I chose good ole rock. But, good grief, does that entail all of my ecclectic likes–no. Within recent rock and alternative I like Fountains of Wayne, Old 97s, and some other obscure stuff. I was a huge REM fan in the 80s, and Bruce Springsteen, too. My all time favorite band is The Who.
But I listen Bach CONSTANTLY as well–I LOVE church music from the baroque era. And I like jazz. And I like–just about everything else.
If I could have clicked most of the categories, I would have. [:D]
i LOVE switchfoot. there are the best of course (any others ??). my favorite song of theirs is Meant to Live. also christian and clasical music.
Heavy metal – Hatebreed, Kittie, Slipknot, SOAD, Poison the Well, etc.
Rap–Jay Z, Ludicris, P Diddy, Tech 9, Fat Joe, etc.
Sometimes classical. Dunno what particular songs are on, but occasionally it plays in the back ground.
Mostly classic rock. Rock and roll ain’t noise pollution.
However, there’s an increasing share of country as I get older. Maybe I’m going country - back to my roots, as Alan Jackson says.
Not too much pop. Depends on the specific song. No rap.
Cheers & happy listening,
By Order:
Light Jazz, Light Classical, Easy Listening, Old Country
I listen to all types, it all depends on the mood. I’ll go from opera to jazz, from country to contemporary rock ect. I should add I’m not keen on rap nor heavy metal stuff
The only music I buy are from the BEATLES & some of their solo music.
Eric Clapton latest album I like
Christian Rock-A-Billy
TrainFreak,
You didn’t include Modern Jazz so I did not vote.
I’ve stated this before, a lot of the modern upbeat jazz music has beats that often make me visualize riding a passenger train, or riding a locomotive (I’ve done both!)
Both Phillip Brown and Chuck Loeb’s music are upbeat, and very cool.
This is tough, because I like and listen to lots of different kinds of music. For my one vote, I’m with Bob Seegar, “Give me that old time rock 'n roll”. I grew up with the late '50’s early 60’s rock and still listen to it a lot. Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly and the very early Elvis are among my favorites. Anything the Beatles ever did is really good music. One of my favorites by them is their “Live At The BBC” set which features a lot of really great covers of early rock. I also listen to a lot of Lynard Skynard, Dylan, country and classical, particularly Mozart.
Have Fun,
Tom Watkins
Where’s the Classic Rock?
Classic Rock: Boston, Aerosmith, Led Zepplin, Kansas, Chicago, White Snake, Kiss.
I like a few country songs. Jo***urner is the best.
I’m into classical music if I know what it is.
I hate Rap, Ska, Techno, Punk Rock, basically everything 1995+. The only modern guy I like is Weird Al (funniest danged songs ever!).
