I’m attempting to mode the Nashville and Eastern along with the Music City Star. I have a Kato F40PH that I have stripped down to repaint in MCS scheme when I discovered something missing from my model while I was looking at the prototype. Above the cabs of the F40s are a boxed shape object with a grill what is it, and also where are the horns located on these F40s because on my model the horns are where the box is? I included a picture.
Hello “TWC,” I think you’re referring to the cab air conditioner on that F40PH. Richard Thomason, whose article on modeling the “Music City Star” in N scale appeared in the May MR, scratchbuilt the AC unit for his locomotive, but he notes that BLMA and Details West offer cab AC units in N. For an HO model you can choose between Detail Associates and Details West parts. Good luck with your model, Andy
The model I’m using to experiment with is a walthers trainline F40PH so I realize that now I have to add a cab AC, but now I also need to add Ditch lights to the front of the locomotive. My Other F40 made by Kato doesn’t have them either, so are there any ideas about how to do this or if there is a manufacture of F40 ditchlights?
