And…
How long have they been talking about this?
A long time. It is all about funding and priorities though. They are dependent on CPKC to get it scheduled and completed. From what I understand the earlier attempt fell apart because after they landed the Federal grant the estimated cost increased via CPKC due to the spike in inflation in 2022 to 2023. I believe the recent grant award fixed the shortfall issue but I defer to the RPM who you can email and ask yourself.
The celebrated architect Louis Kahn once said, “The great idea that never gets built is no idea at all.” It was a very provocative statement from a man who had designs on paper than in stone. My point is this is at the very least a “good” idea but our present circumstances cannot follow through.
So you think the funds can’t be spent due to circumstances changing since January 20th? I am not sure that is true. I think there is confusion right now and a need for clarification but not sure this project is dead yet. It was a Federal commitment to the States. A little more difficult to claw that back than one made to an organization.
Jan. 20th. Feb. 20th. It doesn’t matter. Nothing seems to matter. This idea, along with dozens more, are left to molder on the counter factual pages of history. A study of things that ACTUALLY got built reveals a serendipitous chain of events that could qualify as a miracle. We need more miracles.
OK. Did you watch the video? It is a funded project…not an idea.
I had watched the older video back in the day not long after publication. But even if funded that’s still not a guarantee. Sorry, my cynicism is increasing with age.
