HOC2821HO Mining Hard rock miners, set no.2 HOC
With shipping it came to $11.00 and I feel worth it to me. $3.50 per set, $4.00 shipping and handling.
Four of them came with fedora type hats, on one of them (1st row right) with the two lanterns I used a dremel and sanded down the brim and turned up the front, once painted I think it will be okay as a hard hat type. What I did doesnt show in this picture, I then used sand paper to shape it up a bit.
I’m a big fan of Musket Minatures, although the ones you have shown are a lot rougher than the ones, I’ve gotten from them. Show us your scene when it’s done (but it looks like they should be underground.)
Bill–your picture didn’t download on my computer, and when I went to the website, they’re closed for vacation.
One question–are any of the miners in a ‘seated’ position? I’ve got two 1940-era hard-rock gold mines on the Yuba River Sub that DESPERATELY need some ‘population’ and one of them has a scratch-built skip-loader over the main shaft. Looks kind of bare without any miners on it, and I can’t find any contemporary figures that will work right.
In the thread we had about miners a few weeks ago I posted the results of my bashing effort on the Woodland Scenic Smoke Jumper set. They went from

Thanks for posting the Musket Miniature pictures. I was wary of them because there were no photos on the web site and they had told me that they were not really suited to hard rock mining in the 30’s to 50’s. Now I have seen them I am really glad I did not get them as the poses are not what I was looking for at all.

When I get to that wall I hope to have a slope mine with a side view. I didnt think the flashing was too bad to clean off, the figures are a bit more detailed than the picture shows. I’ve seen better figures but I can take these. I was too lazy to go to the basement to spray the one figure with flat black primer, so I just painted it with diluted oily black, then scraped off some grey chalk powder and with the same brush- dry brushed the powder on. It looks better in hand than in the picture.

Two miners are seated in a semi-prone position and chipping away and another seated upright with a pick over his ankles. Two are carrying are length of timber, one carrying two lanterns, the rest upright with various tools in hand working. Also incluided are four boxes, they appear to be dynamite sticks. Try pasting the pics URL in a browser, you should see it that way, it’s Geocities and they dont go on vacation …
For those that might not know it, you can right click on a picture and go to Properties and copy and paste the URL to see that picture.

I saw your smoke jumpers when you posted them, they came out real nice, good idea. I had already ordered the miners before I saw them. But I’ll probably get them for above ground.
