Yeah, I know, I never shut up, do I?

Has anybody here used the SwitchWorks track building system from Proto87Stores? I am interested in finding about how it went and what were your results like?

John,
congrats on over 2,000 posts! With the speed your are progressing, you will catch up on me soon [:D]
I did sometime ago built a stretch of SwitchWorks Proto87 track for a diorama and found it a little “fiddly” to assemble, but the result was very convincing!
Not really cheap, though, Can´t imagine someone using this for a basement filling model railroad empire.
Aside from the expense of the jigs, why do you think it wouldn’t be useful for a large layout?
(I’m thinking cost of tie plates myself

John - it is a very time consuming affair, it´ll takes you ages until you can run a train! It is nice, when you build a diorama or a small layout, but you have to put it up to near eye level to be able to savor the fantastic look of it.
ME´s code 70 track and CVT turnouts are, at least for me, a valid alternative. Just add a little detail to the track. Pelle Soeborg has shown that quite impressively in his book “From Mountain to Desert”.
Yes, CVT is my alternative. I am in the process of comparing the two-- haven’t received my switchworks stuff yet, just ordered it yesterday. I like the CVT so far, but I don’t want to make a final decision until I’ve tried both systems. I agree the CVT stuff really looks good. And the cost is very reasonable when you factor it all out.
