Andrew, just remember that understanding US politics and government policies is difficult enough for those of who live and vote here. I certainly don’t know the first thing about the Canadian system, so I don’t comment.
It’s kind of like trying to find out what goes on in your neighbor’s bedroom, by staring at the windows with the blinds drawn.
I think it’s all the woulda, coulda, shouldas that get you into trouble. When you don’t know, it’s OK to ask, but please don’t preach. You are still young, and as such forgiven. But in the future, please remember this lesson.

politics do impact on railroading and to that extent discussions should certainly be permitted.
as for religion, as long as we don’t try to either proscylatize or insult, mention of faith as getting us over the rough spots and allowing us to do a better job or treat others more fairly certainly should be permitted.

Then, a few guys chimed in with the nonsense of political and national differences which rapidly changed the intent of the discussion. That’s when I decided to pull the plug.

Or at least not search my families luggage! 2 ot the 4 times that we have taken a driving vacation to Canada, we’ve been one of the lucky picks for a luggage search. Must be the volume of luggage my wife and 2 daughters take along that looks attractive to a customs agent.
