My birthday present came early!

It may not be much, but momma sure has a big heart…she got me a Bachmann 0 - 6 - 0 off of E-Bay for my birthday and it showed up today. She couldn’t wait to give it to me as it didn’t run in the description and she wanted me to have something to work on.

It’s an older loco, and I don’t think that it’s the right tender. I went to the layout, and sure enough, it didn’t run…but no wonder, the drivers were out of quarter…

after fixing that and a little Labelle’s and cleaning, I’ve got a new addition and a nice birthday present…Thanks love.

What a thoughtful gift!! [8D] Looks interesting…what is it in front of the boiler, something like a post or a bracket?

-Crandell

I bet that’s a lot of fun quartering N scale wheels!

Check your PM. I sent you a message.

I’m not sure if we’re talking about the same thing Crandell, but the cattlecatcher is split in front…might be what you saw in the picture. It does look a bit odd when I looked at it again. I’d like to find out more about it but there’s no numbers or marks anywhere on it. It’s sure different from any Bachmann steamer I’ve ever seen, from inside the cab down to the chassis pickups.

If anyone could steer me in the right direction on this jewel, I’d appreciate it.

EDIT: Turns out it’s a second version (1980) USRA Switcher. I’m suprised the condition it’s in.

Loathar…the old peepers are not what they used to be…that’s for sure, but the quartering wasn’t too awful bad…

This looks similar to an nscale switcher I repainted about a year ago. It runs good, has been very dependable, but won’t pull too long a consist, and keep the grades minimal.

Just a quick question…

Why does the “latest post” say 4 AM?

I am in California and it is 8 PM

You need to edit your time zone under the “Update Profile” link.

Thanks!!!

I will get it right…

These 0 - 6 - 0’s are strange creatures…yours doesn’t look like a Bachmann. Did you alter it Ken?

Yes indeed, I did. The paint scheme is different. but it is a Bachmann 0-6-0.

I hope everyone downloads your web site. Very professionally done. Is “Website design, your business ? Your idea of mood changeable backdrops sounds intrigueing. What do you use as the support for the moveable backdrops, and how are they attached to the free standing supports ? I just finished applying SceniKing photo banners, with glue sticks, to a Luan backdrop. I matched the sky blue paint color of the background, (electronically, at the paint store), to the top of the SceniKing photo banner. I wiil cover the permanent scene, with other rermoveable 1/8” Luan strips, that are cut to the shape of the buildings or foliage tops. They are, merely, tucked in behind the edges of the 3-D mountains at each end. This scene shows an N scale railroad, on a 2" raised track against the wall, behind my HO layout. It is a good way to gain forced perspective.

I wish website designing was my line of work…I’ve been neglecting the website lately and it needs an update.

The backdrops have 6d nails with the heads cut off nailed to the bottom of the 1/4" paneling that fit in holes drilled into the layout. The mini scenes have pieces of velcro on them so even the girls can decide what kind of scene they want to run.

I’ve got an idea to store the backdrops underneath the layout that I want to try out this weekend. If all goes as planned, I’ll be showing off my weekend work.

Hi Bob,

Your websites are terrific. Would you mind Posting a few tips on the “How Tos” on how you go about getting such professional results. I am sure that many of us modelers, would appreciate some help with this topic. One thing that some may not know, is that in order to post a picture, the picture must first be “Hosted” by Photobucket. At the bottom of the Hosted picture are four options, as to desired transfer method. You click on the bottom , (no picture) One of the options for transferring the “code” from “Word” to the Forum site, is a small Icon that says,“From Word”. Click it, and the Code will appear. If you have any “Text” to accompany the pictue, you type it in the box with the “Code”, and then click on “Insert”. Lo and behold, when you go to the previously “Clicked” site on the “Trains Forum Thread”, you will see not only the text, but the picture. If you desire to enlarge the picture, you click on it. When you want to go back to the smaller form with the text, you click on “Close” (in the upper left corner.) I hope that “Bergie” updates the new way of Posting pictures on the Trains-Forum-Thread. Maybe, I should Post these instructions, myself. I was frustrated at first, until I found out how the new method works. Note that the end [/IMG] has a slash mark. This must be inserted,if you plan to write the Photobucket code, yourself. It is a lot easier to use the [IMG] Photobucket option !

HHPATH56;

Thanks for the kudos…check your PM’s

Hi Bob,
PM no good, Try my e-mail ROBTAHahn@aol.com

Am I the only one for which the PM does not work? Someone’s reply to a similar question was that one needs to change one’s Screen Name, since they “Updated” this summer. Bob
