my delima's is solved

well i thought about it the other day and said to you guys that i didnt know what to do. then i said that i was going to stick with fastrack. well my mind has changed and i’m going to go with gargraves track and ross switches. the more and more i sat up there in my train room. i was telling myself that this really is not the track plan i wanted. the more and more i started to work on it the more and more i was feeling that i wouldn’t be happy with it and i would only be fooling myself it i went ahead and kept building with fastrack and in the back of my mind i new i wouldnt be happy. so i thought what could i do. i looked around and found brand new 2 cases of 30" fastrack, 14 brand new remote switches fastrack ranging from 036(4), 072(10), a case of each 072 curves- 072 1/2 curves- 060 curves- 084 curves- 5"sections- 4.5" sections- 1 3/4" sections- 036 1/2" curves. i thought to myself and said lets take this stuff to my local hobby shop and see if he would give me credit for all this stuff and low and behold he did. he gave/well swapped with me 2 cases of gargraves 37" flex track w/ wood ties, 4 cases of cork road bed, and 2 of the ross 8 track yard switches that come with the switches and is tmcc compatible item #171M25. well to say the least that my local hobby shop owner is a great man he is willing to work with me and get me what i want and need for my train layout. i have not taken down the track plan that i have put together already but i figue in the next few days i will start to dismantle this track plan and start with my new track plan which i have yet to design but have quite a few thoughts as to what it is going to look like. i know you guys are probably thinking this guys is crazy for wanting to switch dead in the middle of the track plan that he has almost got up and running, but i wasnt happy with what i had and wasnt going to be either if i would have kept going it. i know gargraves is a more hands on approach and will take a little longer but hey what the h*** if its my dream and layout why not

hey reggie - don’t feel like the lone ranger. I did exactly the same thing - had over 200 feet of fast track laid out in a temporary (as it turns out) layout and then decided to switch to gargraves/ross for a soon to be permanent layout. Better to do it now than wish you had later.

Reggie, Well, if you’ve the time, funds, and gumption then away you go! You are definitely not alone when it comes to making, tearing down and remaking a layout! One of the software programs that allows you to do what you want is at: http://www.rrtrack.com/ Jim

I think you made the right decision. Perhaps you want to save some of the fastrak for floor running. Otherwise you will see very good returns by listing it on ebay. Let me know if you use Ebay or need assistance getting going on it.

Reggie, glad you have made up your mind. Indecision is the biggest hurdle. As mentioned, the RRtracks software is great for doing your plan. you can still use the benchwork you have and try to work the gargraves into it, or you can also re do the benchwork too. Good luck to you and I hope to be seeing some photos soon. Till then, take care of your self and that pretty bride of yours.

Dennis

Reggie: Glad to see you are following your dream. Please keep us informed with your progress. All the best.

good luck with your venture reggie.

Reggie,

You might want to look at these switch machines. Tom from Jamestown, NY uses this system on his Gargraves Track with TMCC.

That was probably the best move Reg. Why settle if you don’t have to.

Would like to see pics as progress is made.

does he have a link to his train layout, or if he(tom) see’s this do you have any pics to share. thanks guys on your views and support.

Sorry for the confusion, but I was on someone else computer and forgot to put the link to Z-Stuff’s switch machines http://www.z-stuff.net/DZ-1000.htm

yeah thats what i’m getting but i didnt know he had a web site. thanks

Reggie, smart move. Im tellin you right now, all the elaborate track plans in the world arent nearly as good as your gut feeling, with the flextrack you can just do what seems right in your mind.

Ive redesigned my layout 20 times in the past couple weeks, everytime I look at it, I think its not good enough.

GG and Ross are the way to go!

Congrats!
