My Dream Bedroom- With a Caboose!

Growing up, I remember a gentleman in MR (I believe sometime around 1992) that had the cab of an F-unit in his basement which he used to control his trains. He also built a passenger car, the exterior made of masonite. He could control the lighting so as to cycle throughout a day, and had background music that made you feel as though it was all real.

As a kid, I had wanted to do something similar. We had a room approx. 20 x 50’ and I wanted to build a small caboose, perhaps a bobber. From seeing the large projection tvs of the time, I thought encircling the caboose with them would allow me to play videos of train trips (I’d heard for opposite sides there was a way to get a mirrored effect). Combined with adjustable lighting and background music, the car could be used for homework, sleeping, or just having fun in.

Imagine sitting high up in the cupola reading a book, or just gazing outside? In my case, we had large picture windows along 2 walls with 1 facing the woods, the other our 2 acre pond.

There are many more ideas like this one, please share!

there’s a caboose for sale headed out towards eastern washington, hopefully when I get a good job and lot’s of money I’ll buy it and restore it. it would be my office :).
