Hi There;
Went to a treain show on Easter weekend in Kelowna & a dealer was selling everything at 50% off!!!
Bought this Roundhouse 2-8-0 kit It has a 5pole skew wound armature - very good slow speed & a smooth runner. I had to use an N Gauge decoder as the tender is full of wieght. It is under the woodpile.
The morning local ready to depart Port Elizabeth with stops in Skunk Hollow & Kelton.

Tom–those Roundhouse 2-8-0’s are good little engines. I’ve got two on my Yuba River Sub, and back-dated one to the 1880’s for use as a ‘movie’ train. The other is used as a yard switcher. They’re about 15-20 years old, still with their original open-frame motors, but they run nice and smooth and though not great pullers because of their size, are reliable and trouble-free. I think the prototype they’re based on are 2-8-0’s built in the 1890’s for the D&RGW, but I could be wrong. I know that with a little tinkering, they look almost exactly like the Rio Grande 600 series.
Cute little critters.
