My first attempt at posting a pic

This is my first attempt at posting a picture on this forum. It’s a photo of a kitbashed P2K GP9 that now has flexicoil trucks (lightweight CN GP9). The trucks are Athearn SW1500 trucks. Hope you can see it!

Yep… We can see it… It looks like every prototype picture a friend of mine has ever taken… Something is always in the way… A tree, A fence, a telephone pole, etc… What’s the guy on the rail doing?? From the look of it, he didn’t expect a photographer to be in the vicinity [:D]…

Nice modeling work by the way…

Jeff

It seems to have gone through OK, so here are a couple more scenes from my RR:

This is 3211 (Alco C424) preparing to leave Cold River with a grain train:

Same train, different view:

Do you hand spike your track? or am I seeing things…

Jeff

Yes, all my track was handlaid. I did it quite a while back when the Kadee spiker was still available. All turnouts were also handlaid and built in-place.

Ditto on the good work. That is a good looking scene. I reallylike the rocks. I think the guy on the on the deck is, uh, “wetting the rails”. I would imagine the air is much better than down in the hole.

Let me correct my last reply. I got the Spiker to build my previous layout (way back when). By the time I got to work on this version, the Spiker was no longer available, but spikes still were (and are still, I think).

Nice pic, nice layout. I too liked the rocks. I have not hand laid rails in decades. Congrats to you. Looking forward to more pics. They are one of the main reasons I watch this forum. You guys give me ideas and ecouragement.

cmurray, nice photos of excellent work! One suggestion for you though. Try to limit the size of the photos to around 100k or 800 x 600 pixels max. Those people who are on dial-up, will get quite annoyed waiting 10 minutes for photos to load so they can see a page. I use Photoshop and save photos for the internet at 600 pixels on the largest side, 72 dpi, and save at low quality (3). Seems to work well for me and keeps the size down to a reasonable level. Have fun!

OK, howmus, here are a couple of pics that I hope come through about 800 x 600:

These are a pair off recently finished GP40s.

. . . and this is a recently finished GP38-2

Let me know if these are better, sizewise. [:)]

Great, those with dial-up will definately thank you! I actually have a cable modem so speed is not an issue unless the forum itself has slowed down. I do get impatient after about 5 seconds though… LOL

BTW, Great work!!! Keep ‘em comin’!

very nice work

Wow, can I operate on your MRR sometime? The pics are just right!

Sure; all you have to do is visit Napanee.[:)]

Here are a few more for those who enjoy seeing other people’s work:

This is essentially a Woodland Scenics junk yard with a chain link fence and a few other details:

This is my Alco S2 switcher working at Cold River. It has recently been reassigned to Murray Hill at the other end of the subdivision:

And this is a view of a train passing through Murray Hill:

Wow! You have done a very nice job with your layout.

I’ll come next time I visit my grandparents in toronto![:D] Of course, I’ll call first!
Matthew

You’ve done some really great modeling there, Colin.

Rob

Careful what you wish for Colin, I’m only an hour away from you. [:D]

All you have to do is call ahead! Visitors are always welcome.[:)]

Been to Port Hope many times. My daughter did her OAC year at TCS!
