Well all, not sure if this is the best place to post this but I just got to let ya all know I just bought my first brass Loco!!!
It’s an OMI UP Three Unit Gas Turbine. Thanks for all the helpful info and I’ll be sure to let ya all know how the DCC conversions, sounds, and painting go!

I’m am working on a small 4’ diorama right now to get a bit of practice and to test out a few different ways to do scenery. I took some photos of my Verandas a few days back just sitting on tack on the dinning room table… THAT just does not cut it… especially with the WPF “goings on”. But it did get me a bit motivated to do a diorama to at least take some “proper” photos LOL
Wow, that’s some purchase for your first piece of brass. There was time I would have killed for one of those. My first brass purchase was 1974 when I bought a Gem F-9 that I later learned used a Bachmann train set frame and guts. Cost me $30, which was big money back then. Worse running engine ever created. I think Gem went bankrupt shortly thereafter and I hope the owners are rotting in Hell. [}:)]

Lots of people gripe about brass, but the reality is with some patience and fine tuning you’ll have a very accurate model with pulling power 90% of plastic can’t come close to matching.
If well taken care of it’ll outlive you!!!
Can you fit that engine on a four foot module??? :-)!
