The first of thirteen lovely days off, the sun is shining in good old Blackpool, Gail has had me slaving all morning but now I’m free. Just a few pics.

Its a balmy 35F here this morning, get home at night its too cold to do anything outdoors. Between chauffering my wife around on Xmas shopping and the cold night-time temps havent even hung the house lights yet, let alone restart tracklaying in the new garage.

Glad to see that you have nice sunny weather there as well. Here in the big city of the big colony, (Toronto, Canada), it is a beautiful sunny morning, but the temp. is only 35F.
I spent a few holidays of my youth in Blackpool, (mid to late 40s), before we came to Canada. I was just wondering if the Fish and Chips in the newspaper cones are still as tasty as my mind remembers them while we took in the Illuminations.

P.S. Enjoy your days off while you can. Since I retired, I don’t get any days off. No vacation, no weekends, no stat holidays, nothing to break the monotony except to get up at the crack of noon if you feel like it. On the other hand, the good thing about it is, if I look out the window when I get up and I see nothing but WHITE out there, I can just climb back into bed and pull the covers over my head. The worst that can happen is that the Boss will yell at me when she gets up and the coffee is not made.

"Nothing, absolutely nothing, and I’m not even going to start that till noon!!!"

The layout here in Northern Nevada is covered with several inches of snow. The temperature hasn’t risen above 20 degrees F for over a week and nothing is melting. Makes me wish I was in merrie olde England with Kim.

Why on earth would you want to start doing nothing that early in the day??? I bet if you waited 'til later it would probably still be there and you could still NOT do it then.

Glad to see that someone is getting time off to enjoy.
Since I work retail, time off does not start until mid January! I’ve been doing 25-30 hr. of OT each week, which only leaves enough time to sleep. Besides, the last few days we’ve had frost/ice on the ground every morning, and that’s here in “sunny San Diego!”
Tom that sounds like a lot of work to me, but of course you get the money for all the extra work but to what end, the tax man gets a lot of it, not fair really.
I am on holidays at a place about 1100 km south of where i live and about 100 km south of Syndey. It is really beautiful here as far as scenery goes the sun is shining the surf is terrific but its as cold as hell, with a freezing wind blowing straight up from Antarctica.

Such a great set of pixes. I’ve been wavering a tad after getting some prices on this G stuff, but I’ll suck it up and get to work. (I work best outside in winter, and winters here in Missouri usually aren’t overly difficult.) That is, if the freakin’ Germans who own our electric company would do basic maintenance so we have power more than occasionally.

We have actually moved since my last report, we are visiting sevral rellies on this visit and i am now with my son Leon at a place to the west north west of Sydney called Kellyville.
Of big interest here is 4 of my 11 gradchildren and i a really enjoying interacting with them.
I picked up a great bunch of sleepers (ties) on hte 29 th and on the 2 nd on my way home 75 m of track to go with the sleepers.
By the time we get home we will have been gone 2 weeks and it is long enough for me.
