My first KATO !!!

Today after the wife and I came back from our usual trip shopping in Huntsville Al. This was in the mail. My Bday gift from my wife AC4400 with Decoder. I found it on Ebay for a great price!! $63.00 total shipping included. I’m joining a club next week and they run on DCC, so had to have it right?? Thought so myself.[:D]
I let you see the finished side, the other side wasn’t finished.I spent the rest of the night adding all of the factory details. Not a RTR model.

Great! I remember my first kato. It was a CP SD90, and if it’s yur first good loco, your life will change forever! They run so well!
Also, your pocketbook will feel a lot lighter…

Nice. I remember my first Kato as well…it also had a decoder installed…A CSX SD40-2. I then bought another Kato CSX SD40-2, different number, with DCC, but the Airborne Express left it out back, in the rain, without any cover over head. Needless to say, it was ruined, and I got my money back(Fortunately). I also had another occasion where Airborne delivered my airbru***o an address 5 or 6 blocks up. The name, nor address, was nowhere near similar to mine. Their customer service was lousy, and the guy on eBay wouldn’t let me buy insurance. But, we no longer deal with Airborne Express.

Gee, I wonder why they’re not around any more?

I have an SD90/43 MAC. I love it. It was my first Kato. The only thing I didn’t like was all the small grad irons. I see you put the gray ones on over the yellow paint. I painted all mine to match the yellow and gray they sat over. It was a long job. I wanted it to be as close to the real one as I could get it. You got a great deal on it w/decoder.

My first Kato was a Norfolk Southern SD80MAC. Super smooth runner, great details and little bugger pulls 80 cars.

Cool, I wouldn’t have picked UP…My first Kato was a CP SD40, Traded a Walthers 5 pack of UP Bethgons and gave the guy 20 bucks for it. Great Runner, doesn’t see much service anymore, i dont really need it anymore i have plenty of power, i do run it from time to time but not as often as i like, when i get my layout done it will see more service.

My first was a SD70MAC in Alaska RR. It runs like a dream…but like many others have said its price may cause bad dreams!

That is one very nice Locomotive. My first Kato was a BNSF9838. An SD70MAC.
I still love it the first day I got it. Allan.

I just got my first Kato too. An SD90/43MAC. Great engine. Second only to my BLIs

I got my first a LONG time ago.It was a NYC GP35,no dynamics…I got a new shell for it a few months ago,now it’s 1 of a 3 unit lashup of Readind '35’s I’m working on.I have over 100 Kato’s and Atlas’s now.

Congrats, my friend! Like a few others have said, my first Kato was also a SD90/43MAC. Once you get a look at the detail, and see how smooth they run, it becomes hard to fork out any money for anything else! I now own 3 Katos, and they are the pride of my fleet. I hope it runs for you for many years to come.

My first Kato was an N scale EF-58 Japanese electric style locomotive. A fine runner she is…Kato has great stuff. Congratulations, may she serve you well.[;)]

That was a good choice and what a deal. My first Kato was the NW2 not counting the Atlas/ Kato- Stewart/ Kato. You will have many years of trouble free running- can’t go wrong- a great runner. Good luck
Bob K.

I really like KATO. My first was a NYC RS-2. Second an NW-2. Wi***hey would come out with some more 50’s era Loco’s.
Terry and WILMA for now

Congradulations on your first kato- I have some Kato SD90s and 40s and they are DREAMS- that Kato will serve you well flawlessly for many years to come— have fun

These babies(trio) are turning in an outstanding performance over at the Chicago MSI.

My first Kato loco was a set of 3 Canadian Pacific AC4400CW’s. I don’t think I’ll ever buy anything but Kato from now on. I really believe they are the best of the best as far as high end loco’s go.

My first Kato was a NS SD80MAC. They run really well. That is my only Kato engine and it is the only one I will get. Kato has good engines but they dont have many to choose from. Kato should think about producing a few Illinois Central engines.

Happy Railroading.[swg][swg]

I have Three KATOs all are NW-2s in S.P. colors, these little guys will pull a house down and are quite about doing it,I have lashed them up just for kicks and they run great[^][^][:D][2c]

That’s a great looking 4400! They look best in UP, IMO.

My first Kato was an HO Conrail SD80MAC. My favorite locomotive that I own. Runs great, pulls the walls off, and looks beautiful doing it. Kato’s got good stuff, and it keeps getting better.
